A variety Gala Evening raises £5,000

A Variety gala evening held by the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead raised £5,000 for charity.The event held by Councillor Dorothy Ross-Tomlin, on February 17 at the Harlequin Theatre, in Redhill, celebrated talent in the borough and featured performances by inclusive youth theatre group Orbit Shed, East Surrey Operatic Society, Redhill Sinfonia, Carrisma School of Dance, professional dancers Tapestry and local singer and songwriter Sally Cranham.

Chris Oxlade from Mercury FM compered the event. Funds went to The Variety Club Children's Charity and Orbit Shed.

The mayor said: "It was a real celebration of music theatre and dance and demonstrates how lively the arts scene is in the borough."

The sponsors were Watson and Wyatt Worldwide, La Barbe, Chez Vous, PLG Signs and Stanton Construction.
