Clinic conversion plan discussed

9 Dec 2007

Plans to convert a former health clinic on the Isle of Man into a residential centre for adults with learning disabilities are to be discussed.

Tynwald will be asked to approve a £300,000 proposal to transform Cushag House in Four Roads, Port St Mary, when it meets on 11 December. It would replace the current community home in Port Erin, which no longer meets operational requirements.

The scheme is part of a plan to improve special needs facilities on the island. The Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS) says the new centre would help meet the increasing needs of adults at the Port Erin home.
