Disabled people don’t want to cost the Earth
Independent liberal-minded website Liberal Democrat Voice features a piece by the Vice Chair of our fellow equality group LGBT+ Lib Dems on disability.
It links together the Earthshot prize (which addresses environmental goals) and the UN Day for Disabled People, to challenge readers to tackle climate change in a way that is inclusive of disabled people.
They observe that "passion for combatting climate change has caused people to disregard disabled people and our needs - Low Traffic Neighbourhoods without exemptions for Blue badge holders or carers, segregated cycle lanes without drop kerbs or tactile paving, pedestrianisation schemes that fail to include places for less mobile people to stop and rest - the list goes on."
