Disabled swimmers' pool to close

10 Jun 2007

A swimming facility where disabled swimmers and their coaches have trained for more than 10 years is set to close.

Physiotherapists and teachers from all over the world take part in training at the Ormerod School in Oxfordshire.

The classes are organised by the Halliwick Association which has trained hundreds of disabled swimmers including local paralympian Danielle Watts.

The Ormerod School is due to close in September and the association is struggling to find another venue.

John Partridge, course organiser, said: "Size is a big feature because we can get 20 people in this pool and be within the safety regulations.

"Other surrounding schools - special schools which have pools - the pools are too small for us to use."
