Hospital given £1m in donations
A Shropshire hospital has received almost £1m in donations in the last 12 months, it has emerged.
The money has been given to Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital in Oswestry by former patients and members of the public.
The largest donations were given to the TORCH appeal, to be put towards building the UK's only dedicated centre to help physically disabled children. The hospital was also left almost £200,000 in wills.
The centre, which will mainly deal with children with cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, as well as hereditary muscle and nerve disorders, is expected to open in the spring. Fundraising has generated more than £3m.
