Missing teenager rescued on cliff

14 Mar 2007

A teenager with learning disabilities has been rescued from cliffs after going missing in south Devon. The 14-year-old boy left his family's home in Brixham on a small push-type scooter. He was reported missing and found by police after the scooter was discovered near a coastal path.

He was found some 60 to 70ft (18 to 21m) from the cliff top after climbing down a rope, before being rescued by a lifeboat. The teenager was uninjured. After the boy went missing on Saturday, police officers and dog units began a search, before the boy was spotted by a helicopter. An inshore lifeboat then went on to the rocks and rescued him.
