Notice of LDDA Officer and General Committee Elections 2020
Nominations are now open for the biennial election to the following Officer positions and the General Committee:
Chair
(This post may be occupied by one person or by two Co-Chairs, who must be nominated and seconded and give their consent to stand and serve as Co-Chairs, sharing the responsibilities of that role)
Vice-Chair
Secretary
Treasurer
Membership Secretary
6 members of the General Committee
Candidates must be nominated and seconded and must consent to nomination. These communications may be submitted by email. Self-nomination is allowed. Nominations and other communication about the election must be sent to libdems@lishman.co.uk which is being used exclusively for this election during this period or by post to LDDA Returning Officer, 42 Halifax Road, Briercliffe, Burnley, BB10 3QN. All nominations will be acknowledged. Please note that there may be one or two extra days delay in delivering post during the pandemic.
Anyone proposing or seconding a nomination or consenting to stand must be an "Eligible Member" of the LDDA; that is, a fully paid up full member of the LDDA for a period of at least one month before the above date on this Notice of Election.
With their consent to nomination, all candidates must indicate whether they qualify as disabled persons or as carers or both. At least two of the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer must meet that qualification and at least 7 of the eleven members of Officer and General Committee group. Any count will be undertaken to achieve that outcome.
The ballot will be conducted and counted by the Single Alternative Vote/Single Transferable Vote.
Nominees for any office may submit a statement of up to 100 words which will be made available to all voters in a standard format if there is an election for the relevant position. Candidates for Chair may submit camera-ready artwork copy of A5 size (max 2MB) which will be made available to all voters if there is an election.
The ballot will be conducted by email sent to the email address of each member as registered with the LDDA. This is the address to which this email is sent. Any member may register with the Returning Officer to receive a postal ballot which must be returned to arrive by the deadline below.

Nominations open now
Close of nominations: 1200 on Friday 30 October
Circulation of Ballot papers: week beginning 2 November
Close of Poll: 1200 on Friday 20 November
Announcement of Result: not later than 23 November
Candidates may campaign for election by electronic means and by conversation with members. The LDDA membership list will not be released to candidates. In such communications, a candidate must not defame or denigrate any other candidate, directly or by implication, subject to exclusion from the ballot. The decision of the Returning Officer on this and all other matters shall be final.
