Online service for the disabled

12 Sep 2007

A new online service which makes it easier for disabled people to get specialist equipment has been launched.

Specially adapted bath seats, higher toilet seats, shower stools and other items can now be ordered through Oxfordshire County Council's website.

Disabled residents usually wait for a council occupational therapist to visit them at home before they can get items.

But now they can complete an online self-assessment form, which will be checked by the occupational therapist.

Oxfordshire county councillor, Jim Couchman, cabinet member for Adult Social Care, said: "People's lives can often be transformed and their independence secured by simple pieces of equipment.

"This initiative aims to make that happen much more easily."
