Running for Disabled Children
A Teacher is set to take part in one of the world's most famous races. Fetcham Village Infants reception teacher Gemma Selwood is going to race in the London Marathon to raise money for Whizz Kidz.
Ms Selwood decided to run the marathon two years ago after doing a charity walk for a Cambodian land mine clearance charity where she had to walk 52 miles in two days.
Her application for the marathon last year was unsuccessful. However, she received a place to run at the 26 miles and 385 yard race with Whizz Kidz after she applied through the charities for a golden bond place.
A golden bond place means she has to raise at least £1,500 and so far she has raised £400.
Ms Selwood chose to run for Whizz Kidz for several reasons. She said: "I have had the opportunity to work with a child that was disabled and benefited from some of the fantastic work that Whizz Kidz does."
