Talking Labels for the blind and partially sighted
Derby Primary Care Trust (PCT) have agreed to provide talking labels to the blind and partially sighted. This is in contrast to the Blackpool PCT, who stated that an individual would have to pay for each label for his medication.
Talking labels for medication are important, as they will allow the blind and partially sighted person to know what they are taking, and also what the dose is. They cost about £10.00, which could mean that if you have say 12 items of medication to take - then it would cost you £120.00 for the lot - even though you have free prescriptions. They labels will also allow the blind and partially sighted person more independence from their carer, or someone else.
