A house containing the latest technology to help people with disabilities live an independent life has been unveiled in Cornwall. The SMART house is the latest innovation by Tremorvah Industries, which is run by the county council.

Youth games exclusion 'unlawful'

Children with learning disabilities will no longer be left out of the UK schools' equivalent of the Olympics after a threat of legal action. The Equality and Human Rights Commission has told the organisers of the UK School Games that the exclusion was discriminatory and unlawful.

Doctors are increasingly prescribing exercise for people with depression, mental health campaigners have found. In a survey of 200 English GPs, the Mental Health Foundation found 22% suggest exercise to help people with milder forms of the condition.

Call for more hearing specialists

The Royal College of Physicians has called for a big increase in the number of doctors in England who specialise in hearing and balance problems. The RCP says half of people suffer the disorders at some time, but can wait years to see a specialist and often remain undiagnosed and poorly managed.
