Trust's treatment based on need

Cornwall Primary Care Trust (PCT) has reassured patients that treatment is based on need rather than personal circumstances. It follows criticism of its treatment of a rape victim who was told he was "too grubby" to be treated. The 50-year-old victim was attacked by Levi Lavers, 19, from Newlyn, Cornwall, after Lavers broke into his home. He was given six years in youth custody.

Asthmatics should not waste money on special mattress protectors and vacuum cleaners to tackle dust mites - as they are of little use, experts have said. Many asthmatics are allergic to tiny mites that live in dust in carpets, bedding and cuddly toys.

Disabled badges stolen from cars

Thieves have been smashing car windows in order to steal disabled parking badges, police in Berkshire have said. Officers are investigating three similar incidents in Chalvey, Slough. On Friday night, a Ford Escort and a Nissan Almera were broken into in Burlington Avenue.
